Why this matters
Featured study from the Journal of Nutritional Oncology
14 antioxidant-side nutrients
- Fiber — improves metabolic stability and lowers inflammatory/oxidative load.
- Carotenoids — protective plant pigments tied to lower oxidative burden.
- Riboflavin (B2) — supports redox enzymes and mitochondrial energy pathways.
- Niacin (B3) — supports NAD/NADP systems (core redox currency).
- Vitamin B6 — supports amino-acid metabolism and antioxidant defense pathways.
- Folate (B9) — supports methylation/repair chemistry that stabilizes the terrain.
- Vitamin B12 — supports methylation and neurologic stability.
- Vitamin C — classic water-phase antioxidant (circulation and tissue protection).
- Vitamin E — classic membrane antioxidant (lipid protection).
- Calcium — included as a protective dietary factor in OBS models.
- Magnesium — broad enzyme cofactor tied to metabolic resilience.
- Zinc — supports antioxidant enzymes and immune balance.
- Copper — part of antioxidant enzyme systems (balance matters).
- Selenium — required for glutathione peroxidase enzymes.
- Total fat — scored as pro-oxidant in OBS, but fat type matters: the harmful direction is best described as saturated animal-fat patterns (fats contained in meat, poultry, dairy, etc.), while plant fats (nuts, seeds, avocado, olives/olive oil) are consistently associated with better outcomes.
- Iron — essential, but higher exposure is scored pro-oxidant in OBS frameworks because excess availability can amplify oxidative chemistry in susceptible contexts.
- Physical activity — protective; strengthens endogenous antioxidant defenses.
- BMI/adiposity — pro-oxidant pressure; higher adiposity drives inflammatory signaling.
- Alcohol — pro-oxidant at higher intake.
- Smoking — one of the strongest pro-oxidant exposures.
- Green leafy vegetables daily (abundant): spinach, arugula, romaine, kale, mixed greens, herbs
- Plant fats as the default fats: nuts, seeds, avocado, olives/extra-virgin olive oil
- High-fiber plant base: legumes, vegetables, whole plants
- Minimize animal fats broadly: meat, poultry, dairy fat patterns
Dr. Nemec’s Review
Dr. Nemec posts daily teachings on Revolution New Medicine’s YouTube channel so make sure to subscribe and listen to the teachings. They will give you a deeper understanding of your journey into total health and longevity.
1. Outpatient Comprehensive Teaching and Treatment Program-has the most benefit of teaching, treatment, live classes and personalized coaching. This program has the most contact with Dr. Nemec with 3- 6 month programs that can be turned into a regular checking and support program for life. This is our core program that has helped so many restore their health and maintain that restoration for years.
2. Inpatient Comprehensive Teaching and Treatment Program-is our four-week intensive inpatient program for those that are not in driving distance, usually over 4-hour drive. This is the program that is an intensive jumpstart with treatment, teaching, live classes and coaching designed for all our international patients along with those in the US that do not live in Illinois. This program is very effective especially when combined with our new membership program support.
3. Stay at Home Program-is offered to continental US patients who cannot come to Revolution Health & Fitness but still want a more personal, customized plan to restore their health. This program also includes our Learn Membership Program.
4. Membership Program is our program offered for those that want to work on their health at a high level and want access to the teaching at Revolution New Medicine along with the Forums: both Dr. Nemec’s posts and other members’ postings. And also to have the chance to get personalized questions answered on the member calls, which are all archived in case you miss the call. The Membership Program has 3 levels to choose from: Learn, Overcome and Master. The difference is at the Overcome and Master levels you receive one on one calls with Dr. Nemec personalizing your program for your areas of focus.
