“Every time we try to outsmart the body with shortcuts, it catches up with us.”
GLP-1 drugs like semaglutide have taken the world by storm. Marketed as a revolutionary fix for weight loss, they’ve helped thousands shed pounds — but there’s a hidden cost that’s only now coming into focus.
A new study published in The Journal of Clinical Endocrinology & Metabolism reveals that GLP-1 agonists not only reduce fat — they also trigger significant protein loss. (1) That means you’re losing muscle, not just fat.
And what does muscle loss really mean?
  • Weakened heart muscle = Increased cardiovascular risk
  • Weakened diaphragm & lungs = Reduced respiratory function
  • Structural weakness = Joint pain, frailty, injury
Instead of asking why this happens, what is the pharmaceutical world’s solution? Develop another drug to fix the problem created by the first. The research even admits future treatments may include “combining GLP-1 drugs with muscle-preserving agents.” So we have a drug to fix a drug to fix a drug.
When Do We Say: Enough?  Where does this cycle end?
If each “solution” demands another patch, another prescription, another dependency…
Are we solving the root cause, or digging the hole deeper?
It’s time to pause and ask:
  • What if the solution was never in the pharmacy aisle?
  • What if true, lasting health still lives in the getting back to the way things were always meant to be in nature?
Real Health Starts where drugs were never needed…
  • Raw, living, plant-based foods
  • Low-glycemic vegetables and fruits
  • Movement, breath, sunlight, family, friends, and Fellowship
  • Holistic thinking, lifestyle and diet
These don’t just manage symptoms—they build strength from the inside out.
GLP-1 drugs might help shed pounds, but if they strip away your foundation—your muscle, your heart, your breath—what are you really losing?
Let’s not trade short-term results for long-term health. Let’s return to what we were designed for.
Let’s reclaim natural health before it’s too late and we’ve become addicted to all the short-term quick fixes.

Dr. Nemec’s Review

According to The Journal of Clinical Endocrinology & Metabolism research:
GLP-1 drugs help people lose fat, and this is good because they need to lose weight for their health, but unfortunately this comes with loss of fat-free mass, of which muscle makes up to 50%. This means fat-free mass lost accounts for up to 40% of the total pounds lost, while normal age-related declines in fat-free mass are only 8% per decade.
Let’s translate this and do the math:
Composition of 1 lb of Weight Loss with GLP-1:
From the study, fat-free mass = 40% of total weight lost, and muscle = 50% of that fat-free mass.
So per 1 pound lost:
You lose about .6 pounds of fat and .4 pounds of lean tissue, and of that lean tissue approximately .2 pounds is muscle and .2 pounds can be other organs or bones and very small percentage of water.
What does this mean?
Normal weight loss that is exercise induced and calorie restricted is completely different.
So per 1 pound lost:
You lose about .8 pounds of fat, .15 pounds of water and 0.05 pounds of muscle.
The result is 4X the amount of muscle loss with GLP-1 weight loss versus normal weight loss from eating less and moving more!
What is the potential cost of this muscle loss?
It means greater risk of:
  1. Sarcopenia (muscle wasting — meaning you lose your muscles, you lose your strength, you lose structural muscle support and core muscle support, including leg muscle support)
  2. Weakened heart (cardiac muscle)
  3. Reduced lung capacity (respiratory muscle)
  4. Frailty, fatigue, falls
  5. Long-term need for more drugs to repair what the first drug damaged
What’s the real answer to weight gain?
Get Back to Basics
There are seven basic steps to having the health you were designed to have. These were natural from the beginning. They are what maintained everyone’s health for thousands of years and they include:
  1. Breathing pure air filled with oxygen,
  2. Drinking pure water,
  3. Eating living raw plant-based food without chemicals, preservatives, additives, or processing,
  4. Sleep: going to bed as close as you can to when the sun goes down and getting up as close as you can to when the sun comes up,
  5. Exercise is movement. Move as everyone always used to: they walked wherever they went, and they did physical work — they naturally burned calories. If your job doesn’t do that because you sit at a desk in front of a computer, then in your non-working time, you must dedicate time to exercise every day,
  6. Fasting — not only for regeneration and repair, but also training your mind to do what’s best for your body,
Finally, and most importantly
     7.   Prayer, listening, meditation and stillness.
This is the life that we were always meant to live, and in living this life, no medication is necessary.
So let us get back to the beginning; let us come off of this quick-fix trap, this “just take a pill or a shot and everything gets better” mentality. As this study found: one drug just leads to another, to another, and to yet another until you end up with so many side effects from all the combined medications that the medication alone decreases your quality and quantity of life.
