The Simpler the Life, the Stronger the Life
The Science of Measurement and Disorder
Recent physics research in Nature Physics confirms Landauer’s principle: every time a system is measured, information is lost, and entropy (disorder) increases (Nature Physics, 2025).
In daily life, every ping, scroll, and digital “measurement” of us mirrors this principle. Constant monitoring drains our cellular energy, increases stress, and accelerates disorder.
Simplicity as a Source of Strength
Himalayan Longevity
In the Himalayas, elders often live well into their 90s and 100s. Their lives are marked by walking steep mountain paths, eating from the land, and nurturing family bonds. No digital tracking, no constant measurement — just natural rhythms.
Monastic Peace
Across history, monastic communities show the same truth. With few possessions, lives devoted to prayer and service, and deep brotherhood, monks and nuns cultivated peace, clarity, and resilience. Their simple, measured-free lifestyles lengthened both their days and their serenity.
Evidence from the Blue Zones
The world’s longest-living populations, known as Blue Zones, have been extensively studied. They share nine lifestyle commonalities: plant-based diets, natural movement, close family ties, purpose, and faith.
The Wisdom of Simplicity: Himalayas & Monasteries
  • In the Himalayas, you can find elders living well into their 90s and 100s. Their lives are marked by walking mountain paths, eating from the land, and staying close to family. They don’t track calories or steps — their daily rhythm itself sustains health and longevity.
  • In monasteries throughout history, monks and nuns lived long, peaceful lives, devoting themselves to prayer, community, and simple labor. Their uncluttered lifestyle brought clarity, spiritual depth, and resilience.
Both examples embody a truth: simplicity conserves energy and extends life.
The Blue Zones: Scientific Proof
Modern science backs this up through research on the world’s “Blue Zones” — regions with the highest concentration of centenarians:
  • Okinawa, Japan – Diets rich in plants, natural movement, and strong community bonds contribute to extraordinary longevity.
  • Sardinia, Italy – Mountain villagers live simple lives, walking steep hills daily, eating traditional foods, and staying close to family.
  • Nicoya, Costa Rica – Fresh, homegrown foods, clean water, purpose-filled lives, and close social ties support long life.
  • Ikaria, Greece – Known as “the island where people forget to die,” residents thrive on whole foods, daily walking, naps, and prayer.
  • Loma Linda, California – Seventh-Day Adventists live 7–10 years longer than average Americans due to plant-based diets, community, and a life centered on faith.
The Paradox of Complexity
  • More technology –> more measurement, more entropy.
  • More information –> more stress, less energy.
  • More digital connection –> less human connection.
By contrast:
  • Less measurement –> more energy.
  • Simpler rhythms –> greater harmony.
  • Family, faith, food from the land –> longer life and deeper peace.
Simplicity You Can Live
You don’t need to retreat to a mountain monastery—but you can adopt simplicity:
  • Digital Sabbaths – Unplug from screens regularly. Set times of the day and days of the week that you shut off technology completely.
  • Whole Foods – Eat plant-based, seasonal, minimally processed meals, homegrown when possible.
  • Move Naturally – Walk, garden, hike, ride a bike, take the stairs, lift, and let daily life be your exercise.
  • Deep Relationships – Prioritize heartfelt connection over superficial digital ties. Share meals and time, not just messages.
  • Moments of Stillness – Sit in silence, pray, meditate, reflect.
Closing Thought
Physics shows: every measurement increases disorder.
Life shows: every simplification increases harmony.
From Himalayan elders to monastic brothers and sisters, and now through scientific validation in the Blue Zones, the message is clear:
Simplicity is not deprivation—it is freedom. It is vitality, clarity, longevity, and peace.
Dr. Nemec’s review
Such a powerful concept is the Nature publication of findings from Germany. The more you look, the less you live: you decrease your quality of life and your quantity of life by measuring and analyzing. This is because of one simple fact discovered in physics: when information is measured, entropy is increased, meaning chaos and disorder increases — chaos and disorder do not promote health, vitality, and longevity.
It is vital to understand…
In quantum physics, when a quantum system comes into contact with its environment, energy leaves the quantum system (when it is received by the measuring device), also information is transferred from the quantum particle to the measuring device, changing the state of the particle in a way that cannot be reversed. Information transfer from the quantum system to the measuring device is an irreversible one-way process, always resulting in an increase of entropy which means an increased state of disorder.
Everything at the cellular level works at extreme levels of order. Disease is produced when that order is disrupted, and it starts as an energy loss in the body. This can be experienced with symptoms of mental or physical fatigue, but many times we don’t even pick this up. That’s because of our high stimulation life with diet and beverages, other stimulants and drugs, even the stimulants of a digital life. All this produces eventual disorder, dysfunction, and disease at the cellular level which translates into a definite decrease of quality of life and possibly decrease in quantity of life. As the research states: this is irreversible.
What good is it to live longer if we’re not living better. Just because we can live longer in years means nothing: longevity without quality of life is nothing. Alzheimer’s patients can live to an old age, but they don’t know who they are and haven’t known who they were or the people around them for the last 20 years. So if someone lives to be 80 but didn’t recognize their family or themselves at age 60, what difference does it make? It’s just suffering for both the family and the person.
What’s the answer?
This is obvious — just look to the world around you. Look to the Blue Zones, look to the Himalayan’s, look at the monasteries. They have the answer: less is more in this world.
Less information overload means more life, more laughter, more vitality, more playfulness, more child like living.
Most important is: more faith, more family.
You don’t have to move to these places — you can adopt those principles in your daily life, but you’re going to need to fast. Fast from measurement, fast from digital connections, and fast from social media. Get back to nature. Get back to basics. Get back to the foundation of life.
Where does this all end if we don’t stop now?
Research has shown that the children raised in the digital age are more mentally/emotionally dysfunctional, and physically less healthy. This is the new world we are ushering in. This is the end product of the digital age. We become less human and more robot.
It ends in stress, dysfunction, disease, and death. But worst of all, it’s a slow painful death, not a quick one. It’s a death by stress every day from comparing, measuring, analyzing, trying to be like everyone else or better than everyone else, instead of just being who you are — who you were created to be.
Who were you created to be? God your Father’s child, his precious child. And here’s what HE says to you today:
You ARE my child!
Whom I love!
With you I am well pleased!
There’s only one type of information we’ve ever needed, and it came from our Father, who is God. It is this: the Truth — the Truth is that you are your Father‘s child, made in His image and likeness.
So go forward in the information of Truth, and that will produce the energy of life and the quality of life that you seek.
